Texas Dept of Public Safety doesn't enforce speed laws : Watch out in Richardson http://www.southwesternartpaintings.com
Just moved back to the metroplex for a few months from Tucson.  I can tell you that at Campbell and 75 there is often an officer on the north bound side.  It was the same when I moved out of Dallas over a decade ago.  But yes, the traffic has gotten worse ... read more

Learn Mandarin Chinese : Stuff & East/West
"dong1 xi1" means stuff or things in Mandarin.

"dong1" itself means East; "xi" itself means West; when you put these two words together, it becomes "dong1 xi1" -- Stuff, any stuff.  Isn't Mandarin very interesting?"

Learn Mandarin Chinese : Soup & Sugar
Soup in Mandarin pronounced "tang1", the first tone; if you say "tang2", the second tone, then it means Sugar.

So, make sure you get your tone right and you would not be misunderstood."

Texas Dept of Public Safety doesn't enforce speed laws
Yesterday (2/17/2008) was a pretty Sunday afternoon in the metroplex. I had to drive to Arlington to purchase a computer part. As usual, people were driving 70 to 75 mph in 55mph and 60 mph speed zones.

On Central Expressway at night, on my way home ... read more

: Handicap Parking in Richardson China Town
If you go to Richardson China Town, you often see people park at Handicap Parking without handicap placards or plates.  Sometimes people even park at the entrace ramp of a store.  Can anyone do anything about this?

Texas Dept of Public Safety doesn't enforce speed laws
Yesterday (2/17/2008) was a pretty Sunday afternoon in the metroplex. I had to drive to Arlington to purchase a computer part. As usual, people were driving 70 to 75 mph in 55mph and 60 mph speed zones.

On Central Expressway at night, on my way home from work, there is always some driver drving 80+ mph, weaving in and out of traffic. You just have to clinch the wheel and keep a sharp on the rear view mirror to make sure someone doesn't rear end you.

I have not seen a state trooper on I-30 between Dallas and Arlington in years. This is true for Central Expressway also. Has the Texas Dept. of Public Safety given up on enforcing the speed laws?

Does anyone else notice this?
